I first met Anne at the Ship Hotel in Mere. Right from the very start it was as if she knew our lives would be joint together and from an early stage of our relationship she told me that she was going to marry me.

We got married on Saturday 28th September 1985, we had two children: Martin born 29th January 1987 and Steven born 6th April 1989.

Our married life started at the top flat in the square, Mere, (above the Chinese takeaway), from there we moved to a council house at Manor Road, we once had a chimney fire here and it was then I was encouraged to join the local retained Fire Brigade. Due to the location of the Fire station at White Road, I managed to get a transfer to number 62 White Road and this is where our Family home has been ever since. Many happy memories were made over the years, with improvements, parties, Birthdays and Christmas's.

After two years at White Road we managed to purchase the house and as time went on the housing market boomed, which in turn enabled us to purchase our place at Port Grimaud in The South of France and later on a flat at Welcome house in Mere. We had so many happy  times in Port Grimaud and still have the property today. We enjoyed frequent holidays not only in Port Grimaud but also around the World, one particular place we both loved was Javea on the Spanish Costa Blanca coast, we had many holidays in Javea as a couple and family holidays which Anne was very fond of.

We had many plans for our future lives together but unfortunately after such a quick devastating illness, this beautiful, lovely Lady was taken away from us.

Anne my darling, I thank you for being such a big part of my life and a wonderful Wife, you will be missed more than words can say. Richard Pester.
